Mick Jaggar from the Rolling Stones is caught on film using the Layer Method of Piano.

Student John writes the following email explaining what happened:

“I watched a documentary about the Rolling Stones this weekend, and a clip from it caught my eye. There is a scene in which the band is rehearsing for a stadium show, and Mick Jagger starts playing “Worried About You” on the keyboard, and then the other band members join in one by one. You can see Mick’s hands in the video, and guess what he’s playing? Of course, chords in the right hand and the octave stretch in the left.

This is about the easiest song in the world to play. 95% of the song is just switching back and forth between the C chord and the F chord. But a thought occurred to me when I saw this. I wondered how many people who saw this documentary knew that they could learn to play this song exactly the way Mick Jagger plays it in only one or two piano lessons. I’m guessing not many.

I thought you might like to file this away in case anyone ever questions whether you’re really teaching them to play the way actual musicians play. The truth is here: Mick Jagger plays on stage in front of tens of thousands of people using no more skills than PianoFool students learn in their first module- John”

Just think what you could do with 5 modules!?

John’s right.

Mick is doing exactly what we teach.

To play like musicians.

Not pianists.

Skip the hard stuff and start playing right away.

You can always learn the hard stuff that makes it really complicated later if you want.

But if you just want to play songs and sound awesome, then , well, that only takes a few skills.

Skills that don’t require natural talent to learn.

Skills that you can pick up in just a few weeks.

It’s really that simple.

With just a little effort, you could absolutely be playing like Mick Jaggar and in front of 60,000 fans (who would think you had been playing piano your whole life)

Sound fun?
