As I get closer to becoming a father I am seeing things much differently. Now when I see or hear about something I tend to put it into the context of how will this affect the little guy or how can I use this to help him.

Perfect example…

…Last night I was reading about The Gorillas In The Mist Lady, Ms. Jane Goodall.

She was the one who spend years living with chimpanzee and gorillas in jungles. Her whole life was devoted to better understanding these creatures and then protecting them. There is no doubt it is what she was designed to do.

And there’s a story of a hen house incident when she was a young child really stopped me in my tracks.

Story below”

==================

Jane was curious about how those eggs came out of those hens when she couldn’t see a hole big enough on the hens to make that possible.

So she decided to follow a hen into the house one day to watch, but the hen got defensive and wouldn’t let her in.

So she thought a better plan would be to sneak in there and wait for the hen to come in.

So that’s what she did.

She hid herself in some straw and waited, for hours, until the hen came in a finally laid an egg. Helping her solve her mystery.

Now keep in mind, it’s been 4-5 hours or so and everybody is looking for her, worried, frantic and very concerned that something bad has happened.

But as little Jane ran out of the hen house, her mom spotted her and noticed something.

She noticed the “shining eyes” of her daughter.

She was all lit up with joy and excitement.

So she decided to do something most parents in that same setting would never do and that is put down her concern to give to her daughters passion and said this.

“tell me about your adventure”

=================

Not “where the heck have you been!!!” Like I probably would have said.

And of course we know how the story ends. Jane spent her whole life living out her passion of observing, studying, and reporting back on her adventures.

She never lost the “shining eyes” that so many of us do.

And that got me thinking.

what makes your eyes shine? Light up from being really true to your design and passion?

Maybe it’s music?
